Our New School Worm Bin

Hooray! Today our new worm bin finally arrived. It was delivered by Oliver from his company called Worms R Us.  Another company called Mother Life sponsored our bin and Oliver's company manufactured it.

Oliver taught us what materials are nutritious for the worms to eat: vegetables, banana skins, apple cores, other fruits that are not citrus, some paper, brown paper bags, cardboard(corrugated is best), tea bags and coffee grinds.

There are 16,000 worms in our new bin. The number will increase as the worms' eggs hatch. Did you know that 1-20 worms can hatch from one egg?

Monitors from each class will put our scraps into the worm bin daily.

The worm tea(liquid that drips out from the bottom of the bin) and worm castings (poo)will be collected and used as fertiliser for our school gardens.

Letter and Flower painting for the Sunnyhills fence sign

We decorated our letter with bubbles because our favourite song is Feel Inside. We enjoy singing the repetitive part about bubbles. Our flower has pretty yellow petals and an orange centre.
